Air Supply Live in Bacolod - June 18, 2008

Hahahahaha. Yes. I was there.

Okey, really wasn't expecting that at USLS Coliseum that night. Earlier, the Aunt texted that she has some complimentary tix for the concert. Asked, which section of the Coli (was hesitant to go at first thinking it would be at the bleachers), then she replied, "Titanium, to", checked online on where would that section be, turned out its gonna be just a few rows from the stage. Teh sige ah, ara dayon. Off we went.

So, there, was with the Mother. Never really thought that she'd know the lyrics to some of the songs and had actually sung. As for me, Yes, i do know the lyrics and sung out of the blue. hehehe.

The keyboardist played Chopin on the introduction and the bassist used a 5-string Piccolo bass. Guitarist Graham Russel used a lefty guitar. (was it a Squier?) Anyway, the Concert was

Drunk.

Lately I have been in a state of drunkenness. How I wish it were from alcohol, but it just isn't. I am drunk with my multiple work (whose multiple incomes I have not tasted yet). I am drunk with love (which is I don't know, I love the idea of being in love but I don't really see myself being in a relationship this time..) . I am drunk with excitement (of the thought of being able to live independently from my parents and from our house). I am drunk.

I continuously complain about my life, but at the same time, I am completely in love with it. That's drunkenness.

In my work as a Web Developer, many people ask me about how I see myself in a couple of years in the IT sector. I do expect those kinds of questions, but I feel weird about answering them at the same time. I am a goal-setter, an output-oriented, systems-creator kind of person - that's why I have to say, I do have goals in this line of work. But at the same time, I am Hedonistic (the way Foucault would explain it), and I live for ...

Across the Universe

Summary: It's a chick flick with an amazing soundtrack, supplemented with important messages about what it means to be human.

I watched the film Across the Universe for the first time last night. It's okey, but was only half paying attention to it. I watched it again this afternoon and had a much stronger reaction. I haven't been able to get it out of my head. The music was perfectly set, the plot intelligently conceived, and the message was undeniably beautiful. I think I need to share my thoughts about this film, and perhaps ramble about its current relevance to what I'm feeling recently hehe.

Some minor spoilers follow, but I don't think they'll ruin the plot...

The experience of Across the Universe was less trippy than I had expected. Sure, there are moments of warped psychadelic, trippy cinematography and inverted colors, but they correspond with plot elements in a manner that is neither indulgent or openly accepting of hallucinagenic drugs. Rather, they are simply...

2007: in memoriam

What a year. God has been so good this year even though i havent been good enough.

graduated from college.
last march, ive been able to finish school. looking back, maybe this was the greatest event that has happened so far this year. being able to march in a graduation ceremony and getting your mock diploma used to elude me. i was also thankful for all the people that ive met, got drunk with, jammed with, cheated exams with, cut classes with, that ive met them along the way. also there were people who doubted me if im able to graduate. i guess ive proved you otherwise. (opening chords from Eraserheads' 'Sa Wakas' begins to play in the background)

redesigned room.
from doing the carpentry to electrical wirings to painting the room.last september, my cousin and i switched rooms. actually this is my original room, but years ago, after i went to a weekend trek to mt. patag, my tito and my 2 cousins had occupied my room even without my permission ( i was just a college sophomore then)...

on keeping what you've got

I don't want to pick on my close friends. Ive harassed them long enough when since we were too young to drink booze and smoke cigarettes -- now that we've grown, I've tried my best to stop teasing them mercilessly about anything. hehe
It's hard.

This Christmas season, a friend bought a brand new cell phone, although his old cell phone works perfectly. His old phone? Not the coolest on the market, not bluetooth compatible, not an MP3 player, but 100% functional.

I wanted to give him a hard time, but I said nothing. I even had to agree with him on the quality of the new phone's camera. It's top notch.

But, it did get me thinking about how often we (as in most people) buy things to replace other things that are in fine working order.

I, for instance, want a new notebook. Mine is slow and old. I won't buy one ... not until this one has died of old age, but that doesn't mean that, in the past, I haven't done just what my friend did last weekend.

We buy things we don't need. We buy dup...

the smashing pumpkins - mayonaise

This song always hits me right *here* oh-so perfectly. It's probably one of my favorite SP songs off of one of my favorite albums ever, and it's also on my lil' imaginary dream acoustic set list, for whenever I master the art of playing guitar and singing at the same time and finally hit the local coffeehouse :)

the smashing pumpkins - mayonaise

Fool enough to almost be it
Cool enough to not quite see it
Doomed
Pick your pockets full of sorrow
And run away with me tomorrow
June

We’ll try and ease the pain
But somehow we’ll feel the same
Well, no one knows
Where our secrets go

I send a heart to all my dearies
When your life is so, so dreary
Dream
I’m rumored to the straight and narrow
While the harlots of my perils
Scream

And I fail
But when I can, I will
Try to understand
That when I can, I will

Mother weep the years I’m missing
All our time can’t be given
Back
Shut my mouth and strike the demons
That cursed you and your reasons
Out of hand and ou...

For One More Day

got a loot from my sister, and since she's the bookish type, another book from mitch albom, which, together with og mandino, she has been an avid follower of this author since the former's tuesdays with morrie.. makes me fall in love, but mind you, its not a story about romance and love per se that you get to see in those telenovelas and in those movies hehe.. basta, truly an Albom style - love is the greatest influence in one's life! daw ma apply mo sa biskan diin na aspect sng life mo, for instance, an unrequited love, a lost person sa life mo, etc etc, either sa nanay mo or sa isa ka girl, etc etc.. hehe

anyway, this book tells the story of a child of divorce who is always forced to choose between being a daddy's boy or a mommy's boy - never both. he grows into a man and starts a family of his own. but one fateful weekend, he leaves his mother to secretly be with his father and she dies while he is gone. this haunts him for years which led to his bout with depression and drunken...

"The Last Question" by Isaac Asimov

I'm not much of a SciFi fan but this one's very thought-provoking. It's pretty badass. Read the whole thing when you have time, you will not be dissapointed. Don't just read the ending cause it ruins in. One of the greatest short stories that ive read so far! talking about a deus ex machina!

The Last Question
  By Isaac Asimov

Isaac Asimov was the most prolific science fiction author of all time. In fifty years he averaged a new magazine article, short story, or book every two weeks, and most of that on a manual typewriter. Asimov thought that The Last Question, first copyrighted in 1956, was his best short story ever. Even if you do not have the background in science to be familiar with all of the concepts presented here, the ending packs more impact than any other book that I've ever read. Don't read the end of the story first!
This is by far my favorite story of all those I have written.

    &nbs...
